Astym Therapy

What is Astym Therapy?

Astym treatment is the regenerative medicine of therapy and is designed to restore soft tissues at a cellular level. It regenerates healthy soft tissues (muscles, tendons, etc.), and removes unwanted scar tissue that may be causing pain or movement restrictions. Astym therapy has helped countless people by restoring their movement, getting rid of their pain, and giving them back their lives.

Astym therapy is so effective because it was scientifically developed to target the actual cause of the pain rather than just the symptoms. Years of scientific and clinical research conducted at leading universities and hospital systems resulted in Astym treatment, which now routinely resolves injuries that were previously thought to be permanent.

Graston Technique

Graston treatment is a form of manual therapy that uses instruments to massage/scrap the skin gently and help the practitioner identify areas of restriction or scar tissue. It may also be referred to as IASTM (instrumental assisted soft tissue mobilization). The goal is to reduce pain and improve mobility by decreasing the restrictions in the tissues. It can do this by breaking down scar tissue or fascia restrictions caused from strained muscles, ligaments or tendons.

What is the difference between Astym and Graston?

Both are under the category of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization.
They use different tools - Astym uses blue plastic tools while Graston uses metal tools
ASTYM seminars won't allow chiropractors to take them, but Graston allows for both.
IASTM (Graston, Sastm, etc.) mechanically breaks down tissue and can be aggressive in its application.
ASTYM treatment works on a cellular level to stimulate regeneration of soft tissues

Cervical and Thoracic Manipulation

Cervical and thoracic manipulation is a high velocity, low amplitude thrust at the end of joint range of the neck and upper back used to increase motion and mobility of the spine. It is a safe technique utilized in chiropractic and physical therapy clinics. It is very effective in the treatment of neck, back and shoulder pain.
